Required Qualification:

• Knowledge of media transport technologies (WebTransport, WebRTC, RTP, HLS, CMAF, DASH, etc.)
• Experience with one or more video processing tools (FFmpeg, GStreamer, Media Foundation)
• Basic understanding of Audio and Video compression technologies (H.264, H.265, AV1, AAC, OPUS, etc.)

Preferred Qualification:

• Experience with one or more video processing tools (FFmpeg, GStreamer, Media Foundation)

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams across Microsoft requiring custom FFmpeg builds. Engage with these teams on an as-needed basis to understand their specific video processing needs and requirements.
• Analyze and understand each team’s use case to determine the minimum custom settings required for FFmpeg builds
• Responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing the FFmpeg build pipelines. This includes automating the build process as much as possible to facilitate easy generation and distribution of custom builds.
• Keep the FFmpeg codebase up to date with the latest versions and patches. Monitor the FFmpeg project for new releases, security patches, and features that could benefit internal projects.
• Develop and test bug fixes, patches, or improvements to the FFmpeg builds. Ensure that any modifications maintain or improve the quality, performance, and security of the builds.
• Provide guidance and education to internal teams on best practices for video processing with FFmpeg. This may include creating documentation, leading workshops, or offering one-on-one consultations to help teams optimize their video processing workflows.
• Work closely with internal teams to develop and refine video processing strategies that leverage FFmpeg. This could involve advising on codec selection, file formats, compression techniques, and more to achieve high-quality video outputs efficiently.
• Offer troubleshooting support for issues encountered by teams with their custom FFmpeg builds. Diagnose and resolve problems to minimize disruption to projects and workflows.
